Legal
The agreement between GoBusiness Directory and registered account holders. If you only browse the directory without an account, the Terms of use apply instead.
Last updated: 12 June 2026 Version 1.0
These terms of service ("terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and GoBusiness Directory ("GoBusiness Directory", "we", "us", "our"). They govern your registered account and your use of the GoBusiness Directory platform — including creating and managing business listings, claiming businesses, making recommendations, saving favourites, and purchasing paid subscriptions.
By creating an account you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not register. Use of the website without an account is governed by our terms of use, which also apply to you alongside this agreement.
GoBusiness Directory is operated by GoBusiness Directory, a company registered in England and Wales under company number [company number — to be completed], with its registered office at [registered office address — to be completed].
You can contact us at support@gobusiness.directory.
To register an account you must:
You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@gobusiness.directory if you suspect unauthorised use. We may refuse, suspend or reclaim usernames and accounts that impersonate others, infringe rights, or were created with false information.
You retain ownership of the content you submit to the directory — listing descriptions, images, logos, videos, FAQs, products and services, recommendations and other material ("your content"). By submitting it you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, resizing images or excerpting descriptions), publish and display your content for the purposes of operating, promoting and improving the directory. This licence ends when your content is removed from the platform, except where it has been shared publicly and cached, or where we must retain copies to comply with law.
You warrant that your content:
The value of the directory depends on accurate information. You must ensure that the business details in your listings — trading name, address, contact details, opening hours, services and pricing claims — are accurate and kept current. We may correct manifest errors (for example, a malformed postcode), request evidence supporting claims made in a listing, and annotate, downrank or remove listings that we reasonably believe are inaccurate or misleading.
New listings and material edits are reviewed before publication. We aim to review submissions promptly, but we do not guarantee a turnaround time, and we may approve, reject or request changes to any submission at our reasonable discretion. Where we reject a submission we will tell you why and, where practical, what would fix it. Publication of a listing is not an endorsement of the business, and moderation does not amount to verification of any claim a listing makes.
Where a business appears in the directory without an owner attached, an authorised representative may claim it. Claims go through a verification process, which may include confirming control of a business email address or domain, or supplying supporting documents. You must not claim a business you are not authorised to represent. We decide claims at our reasonable discretion, may reverse a claim later shown to have been made improperly, and may share the fact of a competing claim (but not your verification documents) with other claimants of the same business.
Paid plans are billed by subscription, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details — see our privacy policy.
Free accounts can create and maintain listings subject to the limits published on our pricing page (for example, the number of listings and the features available per listing). Free listings rank on merit — paid plans accelerate visibility but never replace earned ranking. We may adjust free-tier limits from time to time; if we reduce them materially, we will give existing users reasonable notice.
You must not, and must not attempt to:
We may remove or unpublish content, withhold or reverse ranking points, suspend features, or suspend or restrict accounts where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, where content is unlawful or infringes third-party rights, or where it is necessary to protect the service or its users. Except where we are prevented by law or the issue is urgent (for example, unlawful content or a security threat), we will give you notice and the reason, and a chance to put things right before suspending an account. You can raise a complaint about any moderation decision at support@gobusiness.directory.
The GoBusiness Directory name, logo, website design, software, scoring system, and the selection and arrangement of the directory (including our database rights in the directory as a whole) belong to us or our licensors. Except for your own content, you may not copy, adapt, republish or commercially exploit any part of the service without our prior written consent. Nothing in these terms transfers any intellectual property rights from either party to the other beyond the licences expressly granted.
GoBusiness Directory is an information service. We list, rank and display businesses; we do not vet, endorse, recommend or guarantee any listed business, and we are not a party to any dealings between you and a business you find through the directory. Any contract for goods or services is between you and that business alone — carry out your own checks before transacting.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that listing information, rankings or recommendations are accurate or complete.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Subject to that:
If you use the service in the course of business, you agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your content, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of the service — except to the extent caused by our own breach or negligence. This clause does not apply to consumers.
You can close your account at any time from your settings page; any active subscription is cancelled and your personal data is handled as described in our privacy policy. We may terminate this agreement on written notice if you materially breach these terms and (where the breach is remediable) fail to remedy it within 14 days of being asked, or immediately for serious breaches such as fraud, unlawful content or ranking manipulation. On termination your right to use the service ends; clauses which by their nature should survive (including sections 12 to 15 and 18) survive.
We may update these terms — for example to reflect new features, legal requirements or changes to our business. For material changes we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email or by a prominent notice on the site, with the new version number and date shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms; if you do not agree, close your account before the change takes effect.
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your home nation and benefit from any mandatory protections of its law.
